The Lowdown

Hi and welcome to 'Do the Write Thing', home to my blogs, reviews, and essays on film and TV! My name is Ethan Beaven, and I am a devout follower of film and television, and have been ever since I can remember. Maybe it all started the first time that I went to the cinema and was in awe of 'Tarzan' (the 1999 version with Phil Collins' timeless soundtrack of course), or from religiously watching 'Diagnosis: Murder' with my mum on weekday afternoons after she picked me up from nursery (also some questionable parenting there). 

Having studied film at BA and MA level, I had a load of writing that I didn’t really know what to do with, as well as pieces I had written in my own time, so I decided to create 'Do the Write Thing'. My writing ranges from Hollywood to international cinema, and from old triumphs to modern masterpieces on both the big and small screen. I will try and add new material to it regularly, and I welcome any comments or thoughts you have on the stuff that I cover, or any film and TV recommendations you have. Always looking to add to my never-ending list!
